Guided Meditation CD
![]() |
"The best - the best meditation CD available." "This is a powerful tool for cutting through the myriad pitfalls and diversions and going straight into the depths of pure meditative experience. Sluyter has a knack for making things simple; his clarity of instruction is remarkable, and his warmhearted openness encourages one to practice regularly, not in the spirit of doing homework or taking medicine, but as a joyous adventure." |
Just Being is like a meditation workshop in a box. Designed for beginners as well as experienced practitioners, it provides step-by-step guidance for meditating in the effortless, goalless way that is considered the pinnacle practice of both Eastern and Western spiritual traditions. What you won't find here is New Age music, rolling surf, twittering birds, or anything like that. The entire disc is presented with the clarity and common sense that have made Dean's workshops popular throughout the U.S. Completely nonsectarian - with no chanting, doctrine, or other religious content - it is suitable for use in schools and church groups as well as by individuals. As Dean wrote in his first book, "Whatever form of meditative practice we adopt, sooner or later it becomes a process of non-doing, an act of letting go. So why not sooner?"
There are three tracks:
- Eyes Closed (17:31) . . . a guided meditation session in which, practicing with eyes closed, even most first-time meditators will experience a quick settling down into the utter simplicity of just being.
- Eyes Open (14:07) . . . a more advanced session for use after some experience with Track 1. Open-eye practice accelerates the process of integrating the silence of just being into the complexity of daily activity.
- How & Why (23:07) . . . an in-depth discussion of the details of establishing a daily meditative practice, overcoming common obstacles, and staying inspired by a clear vision of the transformation that regular meditation brings about.
"As the saying goes, 'We aren't human doings, we are human beings.' Sluyter brings the being back to the human. I highly recommend Just Being. While listening, I just was."
